Pre-Maiden Flight
A newly emerged Pronged Clubtail dragonfly (Gomphus graslinii) grasps the first small plant it sees by the river. This young adult, or teneral, is vulnerable to predators as it must wait for its wings to completely unfurl and harden before it is able to take its maiden flight.
