Backlit Turbine
A wind turbine towers over a field in Tarifa, Spain, the southernmost town of Europe located 8.5 miles north of Morocco, Africa across the Straits of Gibraltar. Tarifa, widely regarded as "The Wind Capital of the World," is an established area specific to wind farming as numerous wind turbines have sprouted up across Tarifa's farmlands. Windsurfers and kitesurfers, who also take advantage of what can sometimes be extreme conditions, inundate the town and its beaches year-round, making Tarifa a highly popular tourist spot on the Costa de la Luz ("Coast of Light").
